Hawaii Author’s Sci-Fi Novel Hits Amazon Best Sellers List | June 1, 2014

On June 1, 2014, S DeGiorgio’s debut novel, ORION CONNECTION, the first installment in the Legends Trilogy, hit #51 on Amazon’s Top 100 Paid Best Sellers in First Contact Science Fiction eBooks.

Reviews describe Orion Connection as a fast-paced read with action, adventure, and characters you grow to love. We’ve combined ancient alien theory with humanity’s first mission to Mars to create a book that we hope is rocket fuel for people seeking answers to the question, “Are we alone?”

“We have several more books planned and intend to take sci-fi in new uncharted directions, with more female heroes and featuring Hawaii in Orion Connection’s sequel. We’re hoping the books become popular enough to attract the attention of movie producers that could bring jobs to Hawaii. Our three trilogies (Legends, Origins, and Evolution) are already in development and we’re encouraged by reader reviews we’ve received so far on Amazon. Hawaii has always been very supportive of its artists, musicians, and writers and everyone we’ve spoken to about the book is really receptive.”

This is the second book S DeGiorgio has published in six months. Yo Ho Ho and a Very Merry Christmas, published December 2013, will be available as an audiobook in a few weeks on Audible, iTunes, and Amazon. Listen to a sample of the audiobook at: http://pursuitofmeaning.com/yohoho/

Oregon State University grads’ novel showcased at Book Expo America | May 21, 2014
The Book expo will take place in New York City, May 29 – 31.

Novelists, Shaley and Sebastian DeGiorgio, writing under the pen name S DeGiorgio, announced the launch of ORION CONNECTION in April of this year. Orion Connection is the first installment in the Legends Trilogy, a sci-fi adventure series that begins on the eve of NASA’s first manned mission to Mars. The novel is enjoying great reviews on Amazon and will be showcased at the Book Expo America in New York City in May.

“We couldn’t have released this book at a better time. NASA’s decision to name Earth’s first Mars-bound spacecraft ‘Orion’ is a happy coincidence,” said the authors. “Shows like Ancient Aliens and Cosmos have focused interest on Mars and the Orion constellation as humanity continues to search for intelligent life in our galaxy. The first draft of Orion Connection was written in 2001 and started as a personal dare during our summer break from classes at Oregon State University. We asked ourselves, could we come up with a plausible storyline that connected the Face on Mars with the creation of the pyramids in Egypt and the rise of modern human civilization?”

“Our writing professors at OSU gave us the confidence to commit to writing a series. We have nine books planned. The first two trilogies, Legends and Origins, paint an alternative history for Earth and Mars and expand on prevailing ancient alien theory in exciting ways we hope readers will enjoy. The final trilogy ‘Evolution’ will take mankind to other worlds in our galaxy.”

Orion Connection is available in paperback and ebook at Amazon. An audio copy is coming soon.

Orion Connection Launches on Eve of NASA's Mars Mission | April 29, 2014

Art mirrors reality as fiction author S DeGiorgio and NASA choose the same name “Orion” for Earth’s first manned spacecraft to visit the red planet

Novelist S DeGiorgio announced the launch of Orion Connection, the first installment in the Legends Trilogy, a sci-fi adventure series that begins on the eve of NASA’s first manned mission to Mars.

“NASA’s decision to name Earth’s first Mars-bound spacecraft ‘Orion’ is a happy coincidence,” said the author. “Shows like Ancient Aliens and Cosmos have focused interest in the Orion constellation as humanity continues to search for intelligent life in our galaxy. The first draft of Orion Connection was written in 2000 and started as a personal dare. Could I as a fiction writer come up with a plausible storyline that connected the Face on Mars with the creation of the pyramids in Egypt and the rise of modern human civilization? So far, reviews are encouraging.”

DeGiorgio predicts that by 2050 advances in aerospace technology and robotics will allow space-based companies to begin harvesting precious minerals from the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. “I love writing science fiction because it inspires change. Two or three good-sized asteroids could contain enough mineral wealth to pay off the national debt. Communications technology already in development promises to turn today’s gamer into tomorrow’s telecommuting ore miner. Imagine getting paid to work from home, playing what feels like a video game, while in reality you’re actually making intuitive choices for a robot working in space millions of miles away, and sharing a percentage of the profit. Mars colonization is certainly an economic game changer, and the United States has its eye on the prize.”

Orion Connection is available in paperback and ebook, at publication with an audio copy soon to follow.

Yo Ho Ho and a Very Merry Christmas!

In the tradition of It’s a Wonderful Life and Pirates of the Caribbean, S DeGiorgio casts the Pacific Ocean as a nautical canvas for a Christmas tale that teaches us you don’t have to be a bad man to be a great pirate.

Yo Ho Ho and a Very Merry Christmas! promises to become a holiday classic readers of all ages will enjoy for years to come.

Captain Blackjack Rob’s great shame is that he has never fired his guns on the king’s fleet, nor plundered the holds of a captured merchant ship, despite the exploits of his father and grandfather—two of the most notorious pirates ever to have sailed the seven seas.

Left to rot in the king’s jail, and nearly forgotten, Captain Rob and his crew seize an offer to deliver Yuletide cargo to the Town of Dryden by Christmas Eve, in exchange for their release. But to reach their destination in time, earn the king’s pardon, and ensure their freedom, they will have to chart a course straight through pirate-infested waters—a fool’s errand while sailing under the king’s colors.
